Future Sites: Imagining A New Hunter Valley

March 6 @ 5:00 pm8:00 pm

On behalf of The School of Architecture and Built Environment at the University of Newcastle, we are delighted to extend an invitation to ‘Future Sites: Imagining a New Hunter Valley’. A panel discussion and exhibition launch event, held at the STEM Innovation Lab, Donald Horne Building, 140 Bridge St, Muswellbrook, on Wednesday March 6th from 5pm – 8pm.

This event brings together local stakeholders, experts, and community members to engage with innovative projects by University of Newcastle Architecture students. These projects reimagine the future of mining sites and their surrounding landscapes, addressing the transition from extractive industries to sustainable energy futures in Australia. Focused on the closure of Mount Arthur mine, the exhibition serves as a catalyst for discussions about the Hunter Valley at large.

Through collaborative dialogue and presentations, our goal is to inspire stakeholders and communities to participate in envisioning alternative prospects for the region. The panel will explore possibilities for a vibrant and enduring future for the Hunter Valley prompted by student proposals, asking: What does this future entail?

Please join us for the exhibition launch and light refreshments from 5pm in the foyer of the Donald Horne Building, which will lead into the panel discussion at 6:30pm in the STEM Innovation Lab.

For more details, and event registration please head to our Eventbrite.

We look forward to seeing you there.
